Mommy Tag

1. Typically what time do you wake up? Well I usually wake up at 7:30 on the two days that I work and 8:00 on the days I car pool and 8:30 on the rest of the days. Of course this all depends on when Tait wakes up. He doesn't care if I'm tired:)

2. On a good night what time are the kids in bed? We aim for 8:30 and usually make it by 9:00. But then Colton usually comes up about 11:00 because his room is too scary and he needs to sleep in ours. He then is told to sleep on the couch. I think we are just preparing him for marriage;)

3. How long have you been a mommy? I have been a mommy for 6 years and 3 weeks.

4. How old were you when you became a mom? 23 years old, two weeks before college graduation.

5. What is your favorite kids t.v. show? It used to be Curious George and Elmo's World. But they introduced Super Why and Word World on PBS. They are great for my little learners.

6. What is my least favorite kids t.v. show? Definitely anything that doesn't have to do with learning. I hate Spongebob Squarepants and Teletubbies.

7. What is my favorite chore? Believe it or not it is the laundry. I think that is because I can watch t.v. at the same time and feel like I am not being idle.

8. What is your favorite meal to cook? Anyone who knows about my cooking skills will be surprised that I make a mean Hamburger Casserole. Trent says that is because it is the only thing that I usually make. Thanks hon for ALL your help in the kitchen. I am good at helping Trent cook though.:)

9. What meal do I cook most often? Corn Dogs, apples and carrots with a glass of milk for lunch. Kids don't care about anything good and tasty.

10. What is my kids favorite meal? Tait will eat anything, he is the best eater and not picky. Colton loves sausage and Swedish fish for breakfast. (Thanks Trent for giving that to him one day.) Makenzie likes peanut butter sandwiches because it is something she can make herself. I like that too.

11. What is the favorite thing that my husband does with the kids? That would have to be Webkinz. He likes to play as much as they do. He is just a great playmate all around.

12. What are five things that make me smile when I am being a mom? Anytime Tait smiles and talks. I love it when Colton wants to show me something he did new. Reading with Makenzie makes me realize that she is so smart and has a huge heart. Having her snuggle with Tait is the best. Giggles, lots and lots of them.

13. If I could take my kids anywhere where would it be? I would love to take them on a great vacation every year. I don't think it matters where but what you do there. They love getting out and doing knew things. Wish we lived close enough to have a Zoo pass.

14. When was the last time we went out without the kids? Dinner with my whole fam over spring break. We are getting more used to having a young women to watch the kids for dates.

15. What is your favorite past time/activity to do with your kids? Reading with them. It lets me get to snuggle with them and have them find out new things with me. I also feel like I am giving them both my attention. Each of them get to pick their own book. It's great!

16. Name one thing you would never say as a mother? I would never swear! If my kids learn swear words, it won't be from me. Just something that Trent and I decided.

17. Name one thing you do, that your mom did? Hmm. I can't pinpoint a particular thing because it's all inclusive. Her example has given me pointers on everything about being a mom.

18. What is your favorite quality your mom has? She is a great trivia player. I can call her at anytime anywhere (as long as its before 10 at night no make it 9:30) and ask her to answer a trivia question and she usually does. She is also pretty hip on styles and music. I always thought that was cool. She is pretty wonderful at being a grandma too.

19. What is your favorite kids book? Too hard to pick. I do like the Big Red Strawberry and the Great Big Bear. That probably isn't the exact wording but you all know which one I'm talking about. I think it is just so funny.

20. What is your favorite advice for new moms? Don't try to be perfect. Just do your best. Kids are resilient and love you.

21. What is your most heartbreaking moment as a mom? Anytime the kids are sick I wish I could switch places with them. I feel so helpless as a mom that I can't fix them when they are sick.

22. What is your most joyful moment being a mom? Probably when the kids get along, the house is clean, Tait is playing by himself and I can sit amongst that and read a book. I know you can all picture that, and it does happen every once in a while. That is the best moment.

23. When was the last time you told one of your kids "I love you"? That was just now when Colton said he was sorry for pulling all the pictures out of my photo album. He has a big heart.

24. When was the last time you were told "I love you" by one of your kids? Colton says it all the time with a big snuggle and kiss. Makenzie repeats it when I say it to her. And Tait claps at me. I take anything from him.

I tag Melinda, Marianne, Jen, Kanoe and Janell

Random Tait

So in honor of our little Tait teething and being a grouch, I need to remind myself of happier times. So far Tait is a smiley boy who eats anything, literally! He is very social especially around kids. He lights up when Makenzie enters the room and cries when she leaves, well he cries when anyone leaves the room without him. Here are a few photos of his smiles and laughs.

Here is a photo I took of Tait. I had to run downstairs to get something for Colton and ended up helping him for about 10 minutes. When I came back upstairs this is what I saw. Tait was sooo tired he just laid down and went to sleep. He was without his binkie so he stuck in the next best thing. He also was poopie. Overflowing kind. Crazy how he can sleep like that.

Bright Eyes loves to buzz. PS the camera makes his head look big.

Tait is trying to rock the boat.

Spring Break!!

It has been a whirlwind of a week and we have had a fabulous time!! Spring break started on Thursday and we spent the day at Baby Animals at the farm. This is a tradition for my kids each year and we love it. It was supposed to be the start of a warm weekend but ended up being a little brisk. My kids were troopers and didn't complain too much to a mom who didn't come as prepared as she thought. We got pictures of all their favorites and felt like even though we were cold, the day was a success.

Later that afternoon we had a birthday party for all the Armstrong grandgirls and went to Beadles with the moms and grandma. That was so fun, I wished I had gotten a bracelet too. My sis was the only one who took pics so I will post them when I get them from her. We then ditched the kids for dinner at the Coppermill. Delicious is all I can say about that!!

Friday was Makenzie's birthday. We are so proud of how she is growing up. She is so smart and wants to learn more everyday! She is amazing with Tait and is a good friend to Colton. We love her little giggle and the big hugs she has for us. We even love her when she runs on the floor like a horse. (We hope that changes before she turns 16;) I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for her.

Saturday was her first soccer practice. Trent is her coach and she was a trooper. We were surprised! We look forward to the first game on Wednesday and hope that she will enjoy it. Saturday was also her friend party. We kept it simple with cake and ice cream along with fun at the Fun Park. I had to chuckle at all the conversations that these little 5-6 year olds have. The weather was gorgeous so we enjoyed a nice barbeque and called it a day when the wind picked up.

North Logan's Newest and Hottest Band!

North Logan (AP) - - If you haven't heard, there is a new band in North Logan called TRTB. They are three young talented individuals who have just learned to play some instruments. "I just picked it up and started blowing and wow it works" thought Tait as we watched him pick up the recorder. "I have played it a few times and really like playing it" states Colton after talking about playing the harmonica. "I figured I had better get in on the act so I could be famous too" pipes Makenzie as she grabs her train whistle.

"These three are very entertaining and talented young individuals" states managers Trent and Megan, "they just keep us smiling all the time". "We really don't know what we would do with out them".

To see them perform in concert you have to visit the Rowley home in North Logan. Please call in advance for scheduling as they are very busy and often booked. For a quick glimpse, you may watch the free video below. CD ordering will become available after their first record deal is signed. We will keep you posted.
