So about 8 or 9 months ago my sister brought up an idea to have our whole family participate in a race for the SLC marathon. We would start a fundraiser with proceeds going to the Huntsman Cancer Research center. This would be on behalf of dad who at that time was in the last couple of months of his life ( we were hoping for a few more ). We thought she was crazy and her way of getting us to lose weight :) She is an avid runner and wants everyone in her life to feel the same thrill. We kind of agreed without being serious about it. Even my mom said yes that she would set that as a goal. So about 2 months after dad died Angela told us that the time had come to sign up and we needed to start training. This dream of hers began and we jumped on board. It was so exciting to see all the donations coming through on behalf of dad. We started training, though not as good as I should have and Trent not at all :o) I can't tell you how hard Angela worked to make this an amazing fundraiser. She was on the phone to the Hometown Heroes everyday getting our information out on web sites and on fliers that were spread throughout the valley. We all sure appreciate all the work she put forth to make this such a fun (I know crazy word to use) vacation. As of race day we have raised over $6000 for cancer research!!
Each family member participated in some way. Angela and her friend Max ran the marathon. Her two friends named Jen and Jenni ran the 1/2 marathon. There were 8 of us who ran the 5K including my 10 year old niece who whopped us old folks. My sister in law Jen was also a wonderful addition to our group and really kept me on the training path!! The remainder of friends and family ran the kid's 1K which was very emotional for us all because my mother who could not even get out of bed let alone walk 3 years ago, walked with the use of her walker the whole route. We are so so proud of her wonderful accomplishment and know that she will keep up with the training.
I am going to try to get some pictures from family to post (Trent and I didn't bring our camera :o( ). So check in later.

That is just way too fun! My in-laws ran the Salt Lake 1/2 Marathon. They want us to run too but well I'm a cheerleader not a runner, lol!
Way to go, you guys! I'm impressed you all worked so hard and did it. And I know your dad is proud of you all.
