I don't know how it happens, but our children (especially Makenzie) are attractive to bees. I have never been stung by a bee in my 30 years of existence (knock on wood) but both Mak and Colton have been stung this summer.
Makenzie was at my aunts house playing by her garden, which has a wasp catcher, she then came hysterically running towards me with her hand under her leg. She had been stung by a bee. When I asked her to remove her hand a wasp fell out. She had grabbed the bee when it stung her and it kept stinging her until she let go. That resulted in 5-6 stings. Crazy HUH.
Colton was next. He was sitting in the backyard swinging on the swings when one stung him on the leg.
Makenzie was stung 2 more times later that summer, once at my mom's and then again going up to the water slide at the Aquatic Center. We hope that she doesn't become allergic to them. (I've heard that you can if stung a lot) We are glad that she will still go out and play. (Two years ago she spent the summer indoors after being stung at the neighbors...long summer!)
Hey if anyone has any good rememdies for stings we would love some pointers. so far the baking soda and pennies have been good friends.

Oh man! Poor kids, bee stings hurt! I've only been stung a couple times. And my kids not really at all. Lily just got stung last week, but only cuz she was playing with the bee. She loves bugs! She picked it up and of course it got her. But a something that works good is called bug bite (I think) you can buy it in the camping section. It works awesome for any bug bites. It's like a stick you just rub on the bite. Mud works good too :)
Ouch! Try meat tenderizer mixed with water (kind of like baking soda). That has worked great for all the times Davis has been stung.
How weird we have had a summer of bee stings too. Up til now- nothing and then this summer a bunch. I always just make sure the stinger is out and then rub a piece of onion on it. It draws out the poison I guess. I had never heard of the penny thing, we will have to give that a try!:)
Owie! Poor kiddos. I'll second Dianne's remedy...it works like a charm.
We have become experts at Wasp Stings at our house this year. We put on this cream, you get it at the pharmacy it's an antisting cream (it has a picture of a bug on the front of the box), then we give Benedryl and Motrin. Between all that the sting/hive goes down within less than an hour. Good luck with all your wasp stings, this summer they have been mean!
I stumbled upon your blog through my Mom's blog. I can't believe how old you kids are getting, seems like they were just born!
